Norwich City fans have been dreaming of a new centre back for as long as I can remember now. When we were relegated from the Premier League in the 2013-14 season, the Canaries conceded 62 goals (the third highest in the division that season). The most regular appearance making centre backs that season were: Bassong, Turner & Ryan Bennett.
Even before that season, there were pleas for defenders to arrive to help Norwich reduce the amount of goals they conceded. However, with the exception of Russell Martin moving to centre back and Turner being surplus to requirements, nothing has changed.
Now we’ve returned to the Premier League, how are we as fans meant to believe Norwich can survive when we have almost exactly the same defence we were relegated with 2 seasons ago? Let’s look at 5 centre backs who challenge the first team at Norwich.
