Norwich City midfielder faces charges for speeding

Norwich City midfielder Gary O’Neil is facing two charges over speeding offences in Suffolk and Norfolk, according to BBC News.

O’Neil, who signed for the Norfolk side in 2014, was first caught driving at 97 miles per hour on the A11 in Norfolk in February. In March, he was caught in Suffolk at a speed of 103 miles per hour – well above the 70 mph speed limit which is present on both roads.

A magistrates court in Ipswich, from which O’Neill was (legally) absent, heard both counts and were reportedly given a list of Norwich’s fixtures so as to arrange hearings for the player around his club commitments – the two cases are being dealt with separately and have both been adjourned until December of this year.

The 32-year-old’s contract at Carrow Road expires at the end of the current season. To date, he has made four appearances in 2015-16, totalling 21 minutes of play; all as a substitute in the Premier League.
