Norwich’s first month back in the top-flight provided some top class goals in the five games they played during August. With great difficulty, I have selected the three best.
3 – Nathan Redmond v Sunderland
Norwich’s dominant victory against Sunderland showed some football of incredible quality, which was demonstrated in the lead up to this goal. A marvellous one-two with Wes Hoolahan created the space for Redmond to get one-on-one with Costel Pantimillon, open up his body and put a beautiful side-footed finish into the bottom corner.

2 – Jonny Howson v Rotherham
The first goal in Norwich’s win over Championship side Rotherham in the Capital One cup was courtesy of a fantastic goal by midfielder Jonny Howson. After weaving around defenders to find space, a rocket of a shot was blasted past the Rotherham ‘keeper and into the back of the net. Norwich went on to win the gmae 2-1, the second goal being the first and last of the season for Ricky van Wolfswinkel, before he was shipped out on loan to Real Betis of La Liga.
1 – Nathan Redmond v Crystal Palace
The second appearance of the English wide-player in our list sees him take top spot for this month. Norwich’s opening day defeat was fraught with controversy, with Cameron Jerome’s overhead kick that would surely have been number one had it not been disallowed by referee Simon Hooper for a high foot. Redmond’s goal bought back hope for Norwich. A trickling shot from 25 yards outfoxed the Palace goalkeeper, bringing back belief to a Norwich side that were 2-0 down at the time. Norwich went on to lose 3-1, but if was even more crucial that the Canaries got off the mark.
