Norwich striker could move to Championship on loan

The Independent are reporting that Leeds and Bolton are two Championship clubs that are reportedly interested in taking Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty on loan when the emergency loan window opens for Football League clubs.

Lafferty scored 2 goals in 2 games for Northern Ireland in the last week, and returns to Norwich as an international sensation, however, he hasn’t played a match for Norwich this season.

Speaking on Monday, the striker said

Playing 75 minutes the other night and 95 here tonight was important for me. The manager [Neil] will see that I’m probably fit enough to play 30, 40 minutes. I will just go back and work my socks off in training and keep knocking on the manager’s door.

If he sits me down and says I’m not in his plans, then it’s time for me to make a decision whether I go out on loan or stay and work even harder. I’m not going to throw the towel in now, take the easy option and go out on loan to a Championship team, play the long-ball game. I want to play against the best players in the world in the Premier League. When I was a young boy, I sat watching Match of the Day, dreaming of playing there.

Lafferty spent the second half of last season on loan to Rizespor in Turkey. His last Norwich appearance came in January against Brentford, a game in which he was booked and then substituted at half-time.

The striker has scored 7 goals in 8 qualifiers so far and will be looking to take that form to club level. He wants to fight for his place at Norwich, however, if Alex Neil feels he isn’t needed then he will have to consider taking the loan option and that is where Leeds and Bolton could enter the fray.
