Best Away Grounds to Visit in 2015/16

Easiest travel: Boleyn Ground

For those who don’t want to get up at the crack of dawn, West Ham is the one for you. A simple train journey from Norwich to Liverpool Street Station gets you within a short underground journey of West Ham. Being our nearest neighbours in the Premier League, some City fans almost classed it as a derby in the absence of the small team from Suffolk. The journey will become even easier when they move into the Olympic Stadium, which is short walk from Stratford Station.

See it while you still can: White Hart Lane

After a messy legal battle with a local company, Tottenham finally have the green light for their new and improved stadium. Although it will still be on White Hart Lane, it will be the end of an era when they leave their current stadium. Despite the travel difficulties that come with Boxing Day football, it’ll be well worth the visit if Elliot Bennett fires in another beauty.

The Old School: Selhurst Park

Definitely a marmite ground with City fans, partly due to our abysmal record at the south London stadium. While many see it as a bit of a dump, especially in the away end, for the younger generation it provides a view of days gone by. Grounds like Selhurst are rapidly disappearing, especially in the top two tiers of English football. If you like old-fashioned British football, you won’t get much better than Palace away.

The one you need to do once: St. James Park

Make sure to pack your binoculars, as it’s believed to be around a quarter of a mile from the pitch to the top of away end at Newcastle. Sky Sports have done their best to deter the City faithful by moving the game to a 4pm KO on a Sunday, but the hardy souls who make the trip will be well rewarded with one of the best views in the English game. (Editor’s Note: You might need to make the trek this season! Not that Newcastle aren’t full of quality, but…)

The Wow Factor: Emirates Stadium

Undoubtedly one of the best stadiums in England, possibly even Europe. The pure class of the Emirates is equal to the class of football often seen on the pitch. It also has fantastic legroom, and the seats are probably comfier than the ones in my house. But such luxuries don’t come cheap, with Arsenal being infamous for charging ludicrous ticket prices.
