Our man of the match: Birmingham (A)
Norwich City returned to winning ways as they defeated bottom of the league Birmingham City on Monday.
The Canaries enjoyed a successful Boxing Day as they won 2-0 at St Andrews on a freezing Monday afternoon, bringing the three points back to Norfolk.
Daniel Farke’s men had lost their last four away league matches, but the return of midfield duo Tom Trybull and Alex Tettey proved to be important – as the pair bossed the middle of the park.
Alex Pritchard netted his first of the season to open the scoring in the first half. James Maddison played the ball through to him with a free-kick and Pritchard applied the finish into the roof of the net from the angle.
Josh Murphy doubled Norwich’s lead midway through the second-half. Alex Pritchard threaded a ball through the Birmingham defence and Murphy raced onto the pass before rounding the keeper and smashing the ball into an empty net.
Picking a man of the match has been hard, with so many excellent performances across the park from Norwich.
Alex Pritchard, James Maddison, Christoph Zimmermann, Alex Tettey and Jamal Lewis were all in with a shout.
However, our Norwich man of the match against Birmingham is… Tom Trybull!
The German midfielder was immense in the middle of the park, never wasting a pass and buzzing around the pitch all afternoon.
He was constantly battling for the ball and trying to push Norwich forward, as well as retaining possession on every occasion.
