Liverpool plotting purchase of Norwich youngster
The Daily Mirror reports that high-flying Liverpool are looking to beat the likes of Tottenham and Everton to Norwich City’s Jacob Murphy by allowing him to be immediately loaned back to the Canaries for the remainder of the season.
Jacob Murphy is Norwich’s most potent dangerman as it stands, having scored a tidy seven goals and provided four assists. He has contributed to an impressive 29% of all Norwich goals scored in his breakthrough season with the Canaries.
There are consequently a plethora of Premier League teams that have announced their interest in the 21-year-old winger, one of which is plotting a “cunning plan” in an attempt to entice Murphy to Anfield this January transfer window.
Liverpool are not the only club offering a deal-sweetener to Murphy, who could enjoy the greater wages from Merseyside with the better playing time Norwich could offer for the rest of the season. Ronald Koeman’s Toffees are looking to lure Jacob to Goodison Park by making a double swoop for his twin brother Josh as well. This means the two wingers would still be able to continue their rapid development side-by-side.
With numerous scouts having been sighted at Carrow Road from other top-flight clubs including West Brom, Crystal Palace, Hull, and Swansea, Alex Neil’s Norwich are preparing for an imminent tidal wave of bids for the young prodigy Jacob Murphy.
Murphy recently signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Canaries, however, this may only act as an element that raises his price.
Whilst they endure a miserable run of form in the league, Norwich fans can only hope Alex Neil can fend off the hungry Premier League teams from one of our few lights in the darkness and keep Murphy at Carrow Road.
