New Norwich City signing Sergi Canos has accepted the challenge of replacing Nathan Redmond at Carrow Road.
Canos signed for the Canaries on the 13th of July from Liverpool to replace England under-21 winger Nathan Redmond, who moved to the South coast with Premier League outfit Southampton for an undisclosed fee.
Canos looks set to be a direct replacement for the fan-favourite at Norwich. The former Liverpool winger spent last season on loan at Championship side Brentford and having already gained vital Championship experience, he could significantly help the Canaries in their quest for an instant return to the top flight.
When speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, Canos admitted that he would relish the opportunity to replace the departed winger:
That is a good challenge. But I take it. Every player is different but he is a top player in the Premier League with Southampton but if I can do what he did I will be pleased. I am happy if the manager has that expectation. These challenges are amazing and if I take the Redmond challenge it would be more difficult, but I like to play anywhere across the front three although I prefer to play on the right.
Canos was highly regarded at Liverpool and they wanted to keep him, although the two parties couldn’t agree on the terms for new deal, hence he was sold.
Norwich fans will be hopeful that he can help guide the club back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.
