# Charlton open to offer for Norwich target Taylor

Charlton are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Norwich transfer target Lyle Taylor this month.

[According to London News Online,](https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/east-street-investments-withdraw-lucrative-contract-offer-to-lyle-taylor-and-set-to-listen-to-offers-for-charlton-athletic-striker/) the forward has rejected a new contract from Charlton and the club have decided that they are now prepared to sell him before the end of the window.

Taylor is out of contract at the end of the season, which means this is Charlton’s last chance to receive a transfer fee for him. [TeamTalk, via The Pink’Un,](https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich-city-transfer-rumouers-lyle-taylor-1-6417281)reported earlier this season that Norwich were eyeing a January swoop for the striker.

With Dennis Srbeny[linked](https://readnorwich.com/2020/01/06/srbeny-closing-in-on-paderborn-move/)with a return to Paderborn, Norwich could have a space in their squad for a new centre-forward. Teemu Pukki and Josip Drmic are also both injured, whilst Adam Idah has only played three senior games for the club. This means that Taylor could be a shrewd addition to the squad, to compete with the aforementioned trio over the next few months.

He is also a proven goalscorer at Championship and League One level, with Taylor currently on seven goals from nine starts in the second tier this season. With his contract also expiring at the end of the campaign, Norwich could snap him up for a reasonable fee, which would work for the tight budget Stuart Webber is having to deal with at Carrow Road.

All in all, this would appear to be an ideal signing for Norwich if they are able to pull it off over the next couple of weeks. This is due to the nature of his contract situation, Norwich’s interest, his form this season and the club’s need for a striker if Srbeny leaves.
