# Twitter reacts: Alex Neil sacked by Norwich

Norwich City have parted ways with manager Alex Neil today, following a poor run of form in the Championship.

The Norwich boss has been sacked under 24 hours before their Championship clash with Blackburn at 3pm on Saturday.

Neil’s assistant manager Alan Irvine has been giving temporary charge of the club until a permanent appointment can be made.

This comes at a time when Norwich sit 8th in the Championship table, nine points off the play-offs with ten matches to go.

Norwich have won just one of their last four matches and have only picked up 26 points from their last 23 Championship outings.

Their away form had a major impact on that, with Norwich only recording four away wins all season under Neil.

Although, it is worth noting Neil is still the man who took Norwich to the Premier League in the 2014/15 season, before leading them to relegation the following season.

Here is how Twitter has reacted to the news…

> Twitter: Sad about the way Alex Neil’s tenure ended but as one of his last defenders, even I had to admit the time had come after last weekend #ncfc (@Hefff88)

> Twitter: Alex Neil sacked!! Great decision to do it now!! Get Rowett in and he can see what he needs to improve in the summer!! #NCFC #COYY ![?](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2.2.1/svg/1f530.svg)![?](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2.2.1/svg/1f530.svg) (@BenHolding01)

> Twitter: As if we’ve waited until now to get rid of Neil, should’ve happened in October #ncfc (@tbrodie33)

> Twitter: #ncfc Alex Neil achieved something great by winning the playoff final. But sadly this has been long overdue. #neiloutconfirmed (@ReynardCity)

> Twitter: #ncfc Finally sacked Alex Neil, should of been binned after Brighton 5-0, the board have been poor leaving it so late, Rowett will get it! (@JohnCannell76)

> Twitter: Alex Neil needed to go but completely disrespectful timing. Make the poor bloke do a press conference on his future then sack him. #ncfc (@elliencfc\_)

> Twitter: was time 4 Alex Neil 2 go but, the pr decisions & timing of how #ncfc do things is incompetent atm. Poor form 2 let him do interview just b4 (@DanWittred)
