Norwich City were knocked out of the EFL Cup last night after losing to Leeds on penalties at Elland Road.
The score was 1-1 after 90 minutes, and then 2-2 after extra-time. Leeds then held their nerve to win the shootout 3-2.
Norwich took the lead in the first-half of normal time. Robbie Brady picked out a superb cross to find the head of Alex Pritchard, who found the bottom corner – his first for the club.
However, Marcus Antonsson levelled the scores just before half-time, after he converted a cross on the line.
The Canaries found themselves ahead again in extra-time. Nelson Oliveira headed home a Alex Pritchard cross to hand them the lead – also his first goal for the club.
Leeds substitute Chris Wood tapped the ball in from close range after the ball slipped through John Ruddy’s fingers to force the game to head to pens.
The home side took advantage of misses from Alex Pritchard, Steven Naismith and Robbie Brady to win 3-2.
Good performances were few and far between for Norwich, but Louis Thompson and Nelson Oliveira showed good touches during the game.
However, I have gone for Alex Pritchard as my man of the match.
Although he missed a penalty, he did get a goal and an assist during the match, and was impressive throughout.
Pritchard headed home his first goal for the club, before whipping a superb cross straight onto the head of Nelson Oliveira.
