# Fans vote club’s best ever central defenders

in a duel on this [site](https://readnorwich.com/2016/03/27/who-is-norwichs-best-central-defender-of-all-time/?winner=10945&loser=10940), Norwich fans have voted Steve Bruce and Duncan Forbes as Norwich’s best ever central defenders.

Forbes was voted as Norwich’s best ever central defender, winning 69% of his duels and Steve Bruce came in 2nd, winning 60% of his duels.

Bruce and Forbes now take up the next two spots in our Read Norwich all-time Norwich XI. They join Kevin Keelan and Ian Culverhouse in the side, who were voted in over the last two days.

They faced strong competition for the places, with Dave Stringer, Malky Mackay, Craig Fleming and Timm Klose all up there to potentially take a place as well. However, it was Bruce and Forbes that won the highest percentage of duels and they become named as the next two players in the team.

As was with Keelan and Culverhouse, I was not lucky enough to be alive when either of these defenders played for Norwich but both are highly thought of in and around Norwich.
