Norwich midfielder has relegation clause
We understand that Norwich attacking midfielder Steven Naismith has a relegation clause in his contract.
The Scotland international will be free to leave to clubs paying £6m or more should Norwich fail to maintain Premier League status. This would mean that should Norwich be relegated they could make a £2m loss on a player they would’ve had for six months.
Naismith signed for Norwich from Premier League rivals Everton for a fee in the region of £8m in January. Since joining he has made seven appearances and scored a solitary goal.
Naismith had been linked with Norwich since the summer, however, fans were kept waiting for a long time before Alex Neil finally got his man. Naismith has a wealth of Premier League experience, something Norwich had been lacking, and has grown to become an important player in the Norwich side. He is currently out injured, and Wes Hoolahan has taken his place for recent games
