# Inside scoop on Timm Klose: Philip Harmeling Q&A

Following the signing of Timm Klose from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, I spoke to Wolfsburg fan and German journalist Philip Harmeling about what Klose could bring to the club.

### How are Wolfsburg fans reacting to the departure of Klose?

> Of course it is sad to see a player like Timm Klose leaving the team after only two and a half years at Wolfsburg. He was always a very popular member of the team in and out of the pitch. When Dante came last August, we knew that something would happen with Klose, it was only a question of time and when!

### Klose was an integral part of the side last season but was dropped this season, what changed?

> Klose helped the team a lot during the Europa League, German Cup and Bundesliga run last season, he showed great stuff that made Wolfsburg one of the top teams in Europe last year. Hecking and Allofs wanted to upgrade the team to the Champions League level and wanted immediate results so Klose started to take less place in the team as Dante started to be more and more present as a centre-back.

### Is the reported fee of £8-9m an inflated price due it being half-way through the season?

> The injury of Bas Dost was a big hit for Wolfsburg. He’s out for at least 2 months and will also miss both legs of the Champions League game against Gent. With the recent scandales of Volkswagen, it is not the best time to cash out money from VW so the best way for Wolfsburg to have quick money was to sell and Klose was on the list. As reported in Germany, Klose has a value of 3-4M€, even for us, £8-9m seems very huge for a player with not a lot of experience out of the Bundesliga and Swiss League. All parties agreed and everyone seems happy!

### Norwich lack a real leader at the back, could Klose fill that gap?

> Klose has a great body for the EPL, he’s 6 ft 4, he’s big on the back line, his distributions are good and his header are very dangerous in front of the net. It’s a perfect match in my sense between Norwich and Klose. We have to be patient with him, I can’t guarantee that he will be amazingly good at his first game but with time, he’ll progress pretty quick.

### What would you say his strengths are?

> I guess I already answered the question 5 in question 4!

### What would you say his weaknesses are?

> Overall he’s a really good centre-back but he needs to work on his speed to take the pace of the Premier League. Anyway it is normal for any player to adapt quickly to a new league after a transfer. I also know that Timm really want to be part of the Swiss team that will go to France next summer for the Euros. It is in the best interest of Norwich to let him play!

It sounds like Norwich have signed a very promising central defender! I would like to thank Philip for taking the time to speak to me and wish Wolfsburg the best of luck in their German plight.
