# Ex-Ipswich star claims Hoolahan is vital to Norwich

Ex-Ipswich star Matt Holland has [claimed](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/11/24/tt-matt-holland-pinpoints-the-norwich-city-player-vital-to-their/?) that attacking midfielder Wes Hoolahan will be the key to Norwich retaining their Premier League status this season.

The little Irishman, dubbed ‘the Irish Messi’ has been in good form this season with one goal and five assists in just nine Premier League matches. However, his form has dropped off in recent weeks and has found himself on the bench with Jonny Howson taking his spot in the starting eleven.

Holland has said that there are six teams he thinks could go down this season; Norwich being one of them. He has also said that if Norwich are to stay up; Hoolahan will be an integral part of their success and keeping the attacking midfielder on-form and fit should be Alex Neil’s priority.

With Norwich finding goals hard to come by this season, keeping Hoolahan fit will be vital as he is one of the few players in the side that can create chances out of nothing; a quality that is looking sparse across the Canaries side.

Speaking about Norwich’s chances, Holland said this:

> It’s going to be three from six \[to go down\]. The three promoted sides come into that.

> I don’t think Norwich have got that many goals in the team, and I think Wes Hoolahan is vital to their chances.

Do you agree, is Wes vital to Norwich this season?
