# Lewis Grabban says sorry to fans

In an official club statement on [the Norwich website](https://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/norwich-city-lewis-grabban-statement-2680478.aspx), Lewis Grabban has apologised for his actions on the night of the Rotherham League Cup game.

Lewis Grabban was suspended by Norwich after he reportedly left the team hotel without telling anyone and got a train home.

There have been a number of reasons that have been suggested as to the reason behind the striker leaving without telling anyone, ranging from trying to push through a move to Bournemouth to a rumour of off-field actions that caused him distress, leading to him leaving.

Norwich fans have been ganging up on Grabban since and have criticised him heavily, as has Alex Neil. The Norwich manager said in a previous press conference that Grabban had been a ‘silly boy’.

Lewis Grabban’s official statement was as follows:

> I’ve apologised to the manager, the staff and my fellow professionals for the situation that arose two weeks ago and for not being available for the game at Rotherham.
>
> I’d like to apologise to the club and most importantly the Norwich fans for my actions. Their support for me has been great since I joined and I really appreciate their passion for the club. The fans who travelled to Rotherham I especially apologise to. “I’ve served a suspension and been fined, which I fully accept. Now I’m just determined to train hard and to let my football do the talking – and to do everything I can to help Norwich City do well.

Norwich face Bournemouth this Saturday, the team that Grabban was [heavily linked with this summer](https://readnorwich.com/2015/08/24/city-will-not-sell-rivals-light-rejected-grabban-bids/). It is uncertain as to whether he will be in the squad for the game with Cameron Jerome and Dieumerci Mbokani likely to be the top two strikers at the club. Gary Hooper and Kyle Lafferty will also be vying for a spot in the team along with Grabban, potentially limiting his playing time in yellow and green.
