# DONE DEAL: Canaries sign Irish international

The tiger becomes a canary.

After weeks of speculation, winger Robbie Brady has finally signed for Norwich City for a reported fee of £7m, though the club has announced it as undisclosed.

The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international has signed on a three year deal after rejecting a last ditch contract renewal from freshly relegated side Hull. Having finally pushed this transfer through, Alex Neil said “I’m really pleased to sign Robbie. As everyone’s aware, we’ve been chasing him for quite a while.”

He went on to to claim that “he’ll (Brady) be an absolutely perfect fit…hopefully he can go on and show everything that we think he’s capable of.”

Brady made 123 appearances for the Tigers in four years with the club. He originally joined twice on loan in 2011 and 2012, helping Hull gain promotion to the Premier League, before then joining manger Steve Bruce’s team on a permanent deal. His first year in the Premier League saw him score a debated penalty against Norwich in the second game of the season before succumbing to a groin injury, leaving him injured for the remainder of the season.

Brady made 27 appearances last season, scoring twice. However, he again missed the rest of the season through a bizarre training ground incident that saw him falling down a hole in March. Meaning he was helpless as the Tigers suffered relegation to the Championship.

The BBC reported in early July that Hull had rejected a bid and offered a new deal to the 23-year-old. Things have been on the quiet recently, until last week Steve Bruce said that the clubs had reached a “stalemate”over Brady’s proposed transfer. But after rejecting previous bids Bruce considered “embarrassing”, City’s latest offer met the Hull boardroom’s approval.

This is only Alex Neil’s third signing of the window, however, it is expected that this deal with kick start Norwich’s transfer window, with reported signings also reportedly signing this week.

Ironically, Hull purchased Robert Snodgrass last July for roughly the same price as Norwich paid for Brady. Perhaps the tides have changed. Perhaps the club that buys the other’s talent won’t end in another relegation.
