Norwich City fans have been calling for better use of the club’s youth in recent seasons, with a lack of young talent in the first-team squad an evident issue in the squad over the past few years.

The likes of Ben Godfrey, James Maddison and Jamal Lewis have been given a chance since Daniel Farke came in, but what about those out on-loan?

Tristan Abrahams, Ebou Adams, Louis Ramsey, Carlton Morris and Joe Crowe are all out on-loan.

I caught up with defender Joe Crowe, who is currently playing for Irish side Limerick, on his loan move and career with Norwich.

Crowe is a Northern Ireland under-21 international and has impressed for Norwich’s under-23 side in the last couple of seasons – earning himself a loan move to Limerick this campaign.

Firstly, how happy were you to get your first loan move this summer?

I was very happy to get my first loan! My ambition is to play first team football at Norwich and as a 19-year-old it’s crucial to get as many first teams games as possible to break into the first team!

Is senior football harder than you expected it to be?

No not really the football side I know I’ve got. it was the physical side which I knew would be different but I’m a physical player myself which is helping me a lot!

Do you feel you’ve improved since joining Limerick, despite only being there a few months?

Yes I think you have to be a lot cuter in what you do and move the ball at a much higher tempo (than under-23 football).

What are your thoughts on Daniel Farke so far?

I haven’t worked with him as there was a lot going on around the first team when I was back for a short period.

What has been your favourite moment playing for Norwich?

Playing 45 minutes last pre season for the first team against Walsall.

Does seeing players like Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis getting their chance give you confidence for the future?

Yeah it does, seeing young players get the chance is great because you know the gaffer is looking towards the future and not just the players that are in and around the team now so it’s great for me and the rest of the younger lads it’s gives you hope knowing that you’re not forgotten about and it could be you getting the next chance.

Finally, what are your aims for this season?

To try to get as many games as possible and improve all aspects of my game. To help Limerick push up the table. To come back to Norwich a better player.

I’d like to thank Joe for taking the time to speak to us and wish him the best of luck at Limerick this season!
