Holt leaves Norwich with immediate effect
Norwich City first team coach, Gary Holt, has left the Championship club by mutual consent with immediate effect.
Having first signed for the Canaries as a player in 2001, the former midfielder made 182 appearances until he joined Nottingham Forest in 2005 after Norwich’s relegation from the Premier League.
Holt returned to Carrow Road, firstly as an Assistant Academy Manager from 2010 until 2013 before becoming Falkirk’s manager. A year later, he decided to leave the Scottish side in order to become Neil Adams’ assistant to the first-team and retained the role following Alex Neil’s appointment in January 2015.
City boss Alex Neil said:
We’d like to thank Gary for his dedication and hard work for the Club over the years. Myself, the staff and players at Colney wish him all the very best in the future.
Gary Holt commented:
I’ve had some great and memorable times at Norwich City both as a player and as a member of the coaching staff. Now the time is right for me to seek a fresh challenge as a Head Coach or Manager and I want to thank everyone at the Club and the fans for their support for me over the years.
Holt departs following a disappointing season at Carrow Road in which the club suffered relegation from the Premier League for the second time in three seasons. As the Canaries prepare for pre-season, it remains to be seen which other members of the first-team will still be at the club before a ball is kicked on the 6th August at Ewood Park.
