Crystal Palace scout James Maddison in QPR defeat
Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the race to sign James Maddison from Norwich City this summer.
According to a report from Get West London, the Eagles’ sporting director Dougie Freedman was in attendance for Norwich’s defeat to QPR on Monday as he aimed to take a closer look at Maddison.
The England Under-21 international has been in superb form for the Canaries this season, as exemplified by his recent nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Year in the Championship.
Maddison has been courted by a number of Premier League clubs but Norwich are unlikely to sell the player for anything lower than £25m.
The playmaker is a key man for Daniel Farke and Norwich will be desperate to retain his services in the summer transfer window as the East Anglian side aim to mount a push for promotion next term.
Freedman won’t have been wholly impressed by what he saw on Easter Monday, however, with Maddison flattering to deceive in Norwich’s 4-1 embarrassment at Loftus Road.
