Norwich City defender Grant Hanley has stressed the important of staying focused ahead of the club’s East Anglian derby clash with Ipswich.

The Canaries face off with their bitter rivals at Carrow Road on Sunday, looking to build on their recent good form.

Daniel Farke’s men were able to hold high-flyers Derby County to a draw last week, after wins against Middlesbrough and Brentford.

The German head coach was able to orchestrate a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at Portman Road in the first-half of the season.

James Maddison’s second-half strike was enough to secure the three points for Norwich on the day.

He will be hoping to get on the scoresheet again, after he netted his tenth of the season against Derby from the penalty spot.

Hanley came off the bench at Portman Road, but is set to start this time around having battled his way into the starting line up.

Speaking to Norwich’s website, Hanley said this:

It’s important for the lads to stay focused because it’s such a huge game.

It means a lot to a lot of different people. We all appreciate how much it means but it’s important to treat it as any other game and not let the game get the better of you.

The game has an edge to it and it’s important to enjoy those moments because they’re the ones you remember. The unbeaten run we’ve got in the derby is something the club and the fans are proud of and it’s up to the players to keep the run going.

I’m sure with the fans behind us on Sunday, we’ll have an extra edge.
