Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke has handed out the latest squad update ahead of his side’s trip to face Reading on Saturday.

The Canaries travel to Reading on an unbeaten run stretching six games in all competitions. Norwich have kept five clean sheets on the bounce in the Championship.

In that time, however, they have scored just three goals. Top scorer Nelson Oliveira, despite coming on against Middlesbrough, is not fit enough to start agaisnt Reading.

Speaking to Norwich’s website, Farke said this:

Nelson didn’t feel comfortable in training this morning.

He will travel with us but he won’t be in the starting line-up. Although he’s not 100%, he can create something special in 15 minutes and he’s a good option to have on the bench.

Marco Stiepermann has also been struggling with injury and is expected to play a part on the bench on Saturday. He missed out on the starting line-up against Middlesbrough through injury.

Marco’s still got problems and hasn’t improved.

It probably didn’t help we had him on the pitch at Boro, but we needed him out there at the end. He’s got a bit of pain and we don’t want to risk him for this match.

Josh Murphy was excluded from the trip to Boro, with Farke claiming that his behaviour off the pitch was unprofessional.

Murphy has since apologised and is set to return to the squad.

We had a situation where Josh was not professional in his preparation for the Boro game and I did without him.

It’s a shame because he has such great ability, and brings so much. You have to be 100% professional and disciplined to be able to represent this great Club. When I get the feeling there’s a player who doesn’t give 100% I will do without him in every situation.

Louis Thompson, Matt Jarvis and Alex Pritchard remain long-term absentees.
