Aston Villa 4-2 Norwich: Five things learned
Norwich City left Villa Park with nothing as they were beaten 4-2 by Steve Bruce’s side.
Villa were yet to win a game in the league coming into the game, but Norwich left a number of key players on the bench.
Wes Hoolahan, James Maddison and Nelson Oliveira were all left out, despite impressing in midweek.
Villa dominated the first-half and went into the break 2-0 up. Goals from Conor Hourihane and Andre Green putting them ahead.
It could easily have been four or five, but for a number of top-class saves from Angus Gunn.
Josh Murphy pulled one back for Norwich in the 60th minute but just eight minutes later Villa had a third.
Hourihane let rip from distance and his shot deflected and looped over Gunn.
Daniel Farke finally decided to bring Oliveira on with just under 20 minutes to play and the forward netted his third of the season in the 79th minute.
Villa made sure of the result six minutes later as Hourihane sealed his hat-trick and the three points with a low drive from distance.
