Our man of the match: Swindon (Cup)
Norwich City progressed through to the next round of the League Cup with a 3-2 win over Swindon on Tuesday night.
Cameron Jerome had an excellent chance to open the scoring as he raced clear on goal but he failed to finish, as he was unable to sort his feet out trying to round the goalkeeper.
The visitors snatched a surprise lead as Lancashire headed home from a free-kick, with Norwich failing to deal with a set-piece.
Daniel Farke’s men were able to respond instantly, as two minutes later Jerome was sent through by James Maddison and his left-footed effort could not be kept out by Vigouroux.
Norwich then scored two goals in quick succession to take a hold of the game. Wes Hoolahan and James Maddison scored in the 39th and 42nd minute.
Swindon pulled one back from another headed set-piece, but were unable to force an equaliser, thanks to some heroics from Angus Gunn.
I don’t think there is any doubt over who the man of the match was…
Our Norwich man of the match against Swindon is… James Maddison!
The midfielder was outstanding against Swindon and ran the show in the middle of the park.
He never lost the ball and used his quick feet to turn opposition players and create space to move forward.
Adding to that, he cleared a shot off the line, scored a goal and set up a further two.
Maddison was exceptional. Certain starter against Sunderland on Sunday.
