Phillips was released by Liverpool this summer after a spate of injuries kerbed his development last season.
This is despite him being very highly thought of at the club, with Norwich now looking to profit from Liverpool’s loss.
The central midfielder will be hoping to impress so that he can land a contract with the Championship outfit.
Joining him in the Norwich team was Club Brugge centre forward Pierre Xavier.
The 20-year-old Belgian striker has been linked to Norwich this summer, with Stoke City and Sunderland also said to be keen.
Xavier has started in the number nine slot for City, with the game ongoing at the time of writing this.
