Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy has been called up to the England under-21 squad, the club website has confirmed.
Murphy has been drafted into the team after Huddersfield winger Izzy Brown dropped out due to injury.
This is the winger’s first call up to the England under-21 side for Murphy, who has impressed in the Championship this season.
The 22-year-old had not started a league match for Norwich before the start of the season but has already accrued 29 Championship starts so far.
In that time Murphy has scored nine goals and managed six assists – a very respectable tally in his breakthrough season – with eight games still to play.
Murphy will now link up with the England squad and prepare for matches against Germany and Denmark this week.
The Norwich academy graduate has previously been capped at u18, u19 and u20 level by his country – with five caps to his name across the various levels.
