Norwich City ended their run of games without a win as they beat Barnsley 2-0 at Carrow Road.

The Canaries had gone six matches without a win – since beating Nottingham Forest 5-1 – but ended that against the Tykes.

It was also a clean sheet for the Canaries, which has been a rarity in recent months – only Michael McGovern’s second of the season.

The game was a scrappy Championship clash that epitomised Norwich’s midtable mediocrity, and Barnsley’s.

Neither side looked very impressive but Jacob Murphy gave Norwich the lead with some neat play.

Murphy spun in the area and fired a low effort into the bottom corner just before half-time to put the Canaries in front.

Norwich were then gifted a second goal in the 71st minute as Angus MacDonald scored a comical own-goal.

The goalkeeper made a save and the ball rebounded off MacDonald and dropped into the back of the net to seal the win for Norwich.

Picking a man of the match has been hard with a number of impressive performances for Norwich.

Michael McGovern, Jacob Murphy and Jonny Howson were up there. But I have gone with Ryan Bennett as my man of the match.

The towering centre back was superb at the heart of the defence for Norwich and pivotal in keeping a clean sheet, which have been few and far between this season.

Bennett made some good tackles and interceptions, as well as dominating the physical duels in the match with his aerial presence.
