Norwich 2-0 Barnsley: Rating the Canaries
Norwich City ended their run of games without a win as they beat Barnsley 2-0 at Carrow Road.
The Canaries had gone six matches without a win – since beating Nottingham Forest 5-1 – but ended that against the Tykes.
It was also a clean sheet for the Canaries, which has been a rarity in recent months – only Michael McGovern’s second of the season.
The game was a scrappy Championship clash that epitomised Norwich’s midtable mediocrity, and Barnsley’s.
Neither side looked very impressive but Jacob Murphy gave Norwich the lead with some neat play.
Murphy spun in the area and fired a low effort into the bottom corner just before half-time to put the Canaries in front.
Norwich were then gifted a second goal in the 71st minute as Angus MacDonald scored a comical own-goal.
The goalkeeper made a save and the ball rebounded off MacDonald and dropped into the back of the net to seal the win for Norwich.
