Alan Pardew is unlikely to become the next manager of Norwich City, with the club hoping Roy Hodgson will take the role.

Norwich are without a permanent manager after they sacked Alex Neil last week and Pardew has been heavily linked with the position.

However, The Mirror claim that Norwich want Hodgson to take the job and have not spoken to Pardew yet about becoming the next manager.

Pardew is said to be very interested in the job and wants to come and help Norwich fight their way out of the Championship either this season or next.

Alan Irvine is currently caretaker manager but has said that he will not be throwing his name into the ring, despite having previously managed West Brom in the Premier League.

Hodgson is currently available, having left his job as England manager last summer. He is a close personal friend of Norwich owners Delia Smith and Michael Wynn-Jones
