Oliveira left frustrated after Wigan draw
Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira has been left frustrated after the Canaries were held to a 2-2 draw with Wigan last night.
The forward netted his 12th goal of the season as the Canaries picked up a point at the DW stadium, however frustration is the overriding emotion in Norfolk.
The Canaries had a chance to move up into the play-off places with a win but were unable to claim all three points, despite being on top for the majority of the match.
It was Norwich who took the lead. Alex Pritchard’s free-kick in the first half was flicked in by the shoulder of Nelson Oliveira to make it 1-0 to the Canaries.
However, Wigan’s deadline day signing Omar Bogle scored twice in the space of six minutes in the second half to turn the table and put the hosts in front.
Norwich were able to recover a point, though, as another Pritchard set-piece was converted. The winger’s corner was powerfully headed in by Mitchell Dijks – his first goal for the club and his first career goal.
Speaking to Norwich’s website after the match, Oliveira said this:
We’re disappointed because we should win but it’s a good point.
It’s four points in four days. We need to focus on the next game and if we win against Nottingham Forest it will be a good run.
In the second half we reacted well after conceding the two goals. We created opportunities to score a third but unfortunately we didn’t.
It’s frustrating but like I say, it’s a good point.
