Norwich hoping to complete £2.5m deal for defender
Norwich City are hoping to complete a deal for Barnsley defender Angus MacDonald after increasing their bid to £2.5 million.
According to the Mirror, the Canaries are keen to wrap up the deal to sign the player after failing with an original bid of £1.5 million.
Barnsley will be keen to keep hold of the former Torquay United defender after already losing Sam Winnall to Sheffield Wednesday.
They’re also bracing themselves for the departure of both James Bree and Conor Hourihane to Aston Villa.
MacDonald impressed last season, as he captained Torquay United in their ‘great escape’ from relegation in the National League.
The former England C international joined the club in the summer from the National League side and has adjusted to life in the Championship with ease.
MacDonald has been one of the stars of their impressive first season back in the Championship.
Barnsley will want to squeeze as much as they can out of Norwich with MacDonald’s former side, Torquay also due a percentage of the fee.
