Brentford prepared to offer Canos asking price
According to the Independent, Brentford are ready to sign Sergi Canos from Norwich – as soon as they sell Scott Hogan.
Brentford are set to let Hogan join West Ham in a deal worth around £12m, which will give them the funds to sign Canos from Norwich for a fee similar to what Norwich paid for the winger.
The 19-year-old signed for Norwich last summer from Liverpool for £2.5m, initially being seen as a replacement for Nathan Redmond – who joined Southampton for £11m.
However, the Spanish winger has started just five matches this season – only one in the league, with one Championship appearance since August.
Leeds are also thought to be willing to match the price, with Fulham also now entering the race – but they could be too late.
Canos was on loan at Brentford last season, as he scored seven goals in the Championship, which could play a part in his decision to leave.
Norwich need to sell before they can buy this month and Canos looks be the unfortunate player to have to be sold, despite his clear promise.
