As I said in my previous article, something is not right at Norwich. To be honest, it doesn’t seem like there is enough fight and hunger in the team when things start to go bad. This is unlike the Paul Lambert era when we had a series of players who were bought in from the lower leagues. Obvious examples including Grant Holt (bought from Shrewsbury Town), Simeon Jackson (from Gillingham) and Michael Nelson (Hartlepool United). These teams had passion, hunger and kept on going to the final whistle (as shown by the incredible finale to the famous 3-2 win vs Derby County). Maybe this is what Norwich need now, a core of talented individuals from the lower league blended with youth and a sprinkle of stardust from a couple of players. This could make for a mix which could replicate the success of the Paul Lambert era. Here are a few examples of players from League 1 and League 2 who could fit the bill.
Lawrence Vigouroux - GK (Swindon Town FC)
A promising young goalkeeper (23-years-old) who has appeared over 40 times for Swindon already. He could be seen as one for the future, whilst also providing John Ruddy and Michael McGovern with stern competition.
Mark Beevers - CB (Bolton Wanderers)
At 27 years of age and standing at 6 ft 4, this seems like the no-nonsense centre back that Norwich could use. He captained Bolton at times during pre-season and has been part of a defence conceding just 12 times in 19 games.
Josh Morris - LM (Scunthorpe United)
This man is the standout. In 19 League 1 games, he has scored 14 goals in 19, received 2 Sky Bet League 1 player of the month awards. He can play on the wing or in a central role and his ability to find the back of the net could add real sharpness to the Norwich attack. He seems to also have a real technical ability to go with his lethal finishing (Look no further than a beauty of a free kick against Northampton).
Matt Taylor - ST (Bristol Rovers)
One word that springs to mind when talking about this man is goals. He scored 18 in the 2014-2015 National League, 27 goals last season in League 2 and has already hit 12 goals this season in League 1. This seems to show he can adjust very well to an increasing difficulty level.
Omar Bogle - ST (Grimsby Town)
Finally a bit of a wildcard from League 2. The club hero after scoring a brace in last season’s National League play-off final. He looks strong, hungry and knows where the goal is (14 goals this season). Could be a great option.
