Norwich closing in on Fletcher
According to The Nottingham Post, Norwich City are closing in on the signing of Steven Fletcher on a free transfer this summer.
Norwich are thought to have offered Fletcher £35k-per-week to join the club, which should be enough to lure the forward to Carrow Road this summer. Although, Sheffield Wednesday are also interested.
Fletcher will be a free agent as of Friday, with his Sunderland contract expiring July 1st. Sunderland have opted against extending his contract. This means he would cost Norwich nothing.
The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille in France, scoring three goals in 13 games for Ligue 1 side.
Fletcher had a fairly good record in the Premier League for Sunderland, scoring 23 goals in 94 top-flight matches. He also scored 22 goals in 61 Premier League matches for Wolves earlier in his career.
If Norwich pull the deal off, they will be hoping he can continue his good goalscoring record in England into the Championship.
Fletcher also has a good record at international record. The striker has scored eight times in just 28 caps for Scotland.
