With Nathan Redmond’s move to Southampton looking very close to completion, it is time to start looking at players who could replace him at Norwich.
Redmond is likely to leave Norwich to join Southampton for a fee in the region of £11m. The winger has just one year left on his contract at Norwich, which has possibly forced their hand into selling their prized asset.
The 22-year-old stayed loyal last time the club went down, but does seem unwilling to waste another year of his promising career in the second tier of English football, moving back to the Premier League with Southampton
So, Norwich are now likely to be left with a task on their hands to find a replacement for Redmond this summer. He scored many vital goals for Norwich over the last three seasons, setting up even more.
His place on the right-side of midfield will be hard to fill, but here is a list of some players that Norwich could sign to do just that…
Craig Noone: Cardiff
The Cardiff winger has been linked to Norwich on a number of occasions and could be the man to replace Redmond.
However, he will turn 28 later this year and Norwich may want to sign a younger prospect. Although he could still be signed as a rotation player.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson: Charlton
The 25-year-old Charlton winger had a fine season last year for the Addicks.
Following their relegation to League One, he is expected to be one of the first players out of the door. Norwich could take advantage of this and swoop for the Icelandic International.
Callum Harriot: Charlton
Another winger from Charlton. Harriot is only 22-years-old has clearly has a lot of potential. He would possibly be more of one for the future, however.
Tom Ince: Derby
Ince would be one of my top choices to sign. The winger has been strutting his stuff in the Championship for a number of years now and is a goalscoring winger.
He would slot in very nicely for Redmond, possibly an improvement on him too.
Matt Phillips: QPR
Matt Phillips has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent season and could be wanting a move away from QPR.
Norwich could take advantage and bring the ex-Blackpool winger to Carrow Road.
Tom Cairney: Fulham
Norwich fans may remember Cairney’s fantastic volley for Blackburn at Carrow Road in their last Championship campaign – that is what he can do.
The Fulham wide man could be tempted with a move to Carrow Road and would be a superb signing for the Canaries.
Josh Murphy: Homegrown
Could Alex Neil finally give Josh Murphy the chance he deserves in the first-team?
Jacob Murphy: Homegrown
Could Josh’s twin brother Jacob also stake a claim for his spot in the side?
