Redmond set for Southampton switch
Norwich’s English U21 international, Nathan Redmond, is close to a move to Southampton and talks are said to have reached an advanced stage over a deal.
The Mirror reports that the Saints are closing to finalizing an £11million package deal for the pacey winger, who following the Canaries relegation, was always likely to be moved on. Interest was high amongst Premier League clubs from the moment the season ended; fuelled by Redmond putting in a good string of performances for the Canaries at the back end of the season and most noticeably for Gareth Southgate’s England U21’s.
Redmond is currently on holiday but is thought will undergo a medical at the Saints when he returns. The move for the winger is said to be a replacement deal for Saido Mane, who is expected to leave following Redmond’s arrival at Southampton.
The 22-year-old joined Norwich from Birmingham in 2013 for just £3 million and although his departure will be a blow to Norwich’s hopes of an immediate return to the top flight, the Canaries will make a good profit for a player with only a year remaining on his contract.
