As with every summer transfer window, there is going to be a clearance of players.
Clubs look to get rid of out of contract players, as well as move on any players who won’t be in the managers plans for the upcoming season, Norwich will be no different.
From players who just aren’t getting any game time, to players who aren’t performing to the level required for the team and need replacing. There are always players at the club who could move on in the transfer window.
I have decided to go against listing our best players who could leave if we go down and instead, for the sake of positivity, I am basing this article on the assumption that we will retain our Premier League status for next season. So, here are some players that I think could move on in the summer if we manage to stay in the top-flight…
Tony Andreu
One of the strangest signings since Luciano Becchio. Neil signed him from his old side Hamilton but he has barely played a game in just over a year at the club and is nowhere near the level required.
Kyle Lafferty
How he didn’t leave in the summer or January I don’t know. Alex Neil clearly doesn’t rate him and he needed game time ahead of this summer’s European Championships. If he impresses at the Euros, there are bound to be plenty of suitors.
Cameron Jerome
I think Jerome has run his course at Norwich. He just simply isn’t good enough. He was fantastic in the Championship but he isn’t good enough for the Premier League, not even close. It’s a shame as his attitude is second to none but it’s the best for both parties.
Declan Rudd
I for one still think Rudd should be playing in goal. He impressed me in the majority of his matches. However, I think the pressure did get to him. Rudd should move on to a top Championship team to get some regular game time as he is more than good enough.
Steven Whittaker
Out of contract in the summer and nowhere near the matchday squads, Whittaker is 99% likely to move on.
Vadis Odidja-Ofoe
A very underrated player but not able to get in the side due to Alex Neil’s love for Wes Hoolahan. Injuries have been a real problem for Vadis and a move away from Norwich would be the best option it seems.
Ricky Van Wolfswinkel
He probably should have left after his first season but two years later and he is still contracted to the club. I fully expect him to be one of the first out the door.
Yousouff Mulumbu
A lot of fans, including myself, were excited to see Mulumbu join on a free transfer from West Brom last summer. However, injuries and form have hampered his chances and a summer move looks likely.
