Norwich are not exactly world-renowned for their academy set-up as they haven’t created that many star names.
Robert Green and Craig Bellamy are the two stand-out names from the academy who had broken through. However, the current crop of youngsters is arguably one of Norwich’s best ever.
A number are currently in the youth set-up, with others out on loan in the football league.
So, what would a best XI of these young promising talents look like..
Ben Killip
Currently out on loan at Lowestoft Town. Ben Killip is Norwich’s best prospect in the goalkeeping department. He has been in good form for the Blues, making some fantastic stops in his last two matches.
Reece Hall-Johnson
He can play in either role on the right or in central midfield. He is a solid, versatile player who did make his first-team debut last season in the league cup.
Michee Efete
The under-21’s defender has been impressive in the youth ranks for a while now and could challenge for a first-team spot in the coming years.
Adel Gafati
The young central defender is another one of the more promising players at the club and is sure to have a bright future in the game.
Harry Toffolo
Currently on loan at Peterborough, Toffolo is regarded as one of the best young English left backs and is sure to come into Alex Neil’s plans next season.
Jacob Murphy
One-half of the Murphy twins, Jacob is currently on loan at Coventry. He has been impressing all season for the Sky Blues and is another that Alex Neil may have plans for next season.
Louis Thompson
Highly rated at Swindon Town on loan, Thompson is yet to get near the first-team but could force a way through due to the current form of Norwich’s midfield.
Ben Godfrey
One of the youngest in this squad. Godfrey signed for Norwich on his 18th birthday last month from York, where he had already been playing first-team football. He is one for Alex Neil’s long-term plans.
Josh Murphy
The other half of the Murphy twins; Josh is currently on loan at MK Dons. He is a top player in my opinion. I for one wanted to see him challenge for a place in the side this season, I think he is that good.
James Maddison
Deadline day signing from Coventry, Maddison is thought to be one of the best talents outside of the Premier League. He is another that Alex Neil may consider next season.
Benni Ashley-Seal
One of the newer prospects, Benni Ashley-Seal has impressed for the u18 and u21 side this season up front and is thought to be a very promising forward.
