Norwich City manager Alex Neil has claimed that Patrick Bamford is worth £10m following his form last season for Middlesbrough.
Bamford joined Norwich on Saturday on a season-long loan from Chelsea. He links straight up with the squad and has a possibility of playing against Tottenham on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old striker won Championship player of the year last season whilst on loan at Middlesbrough. This made him one of the most sought after youngsters in the summer and as a number of clubs, including Norwich, tried to sign him.
He ended up joining Crystal Palace but his chances were limited with The Eagles and had to cut his deal short. Alex Neil swooped in to bring him to Norfolk and hopefully he will rediscover his best form.
If Bamford does find his best form then Alex Neil thinks that the club have a £10m player on their hands for the next six months or so.
Obviously he did extremely well last season and won Championship Player of the Year. If we had tried to recruit him in the summer you would have been talking double figures, £10m-plus.
The fact we can get that calibre player in on a loan deal between now and the end of the season will hopefully increase our fire-power and give us a bit more competition.
He will come in and compete with Dieumerci Mbokani and Cameron Jerome.
Then it will be up to him to show his qualities and hopefully stake his claim for a place in the team. It can only help us that we have more competition.
