Gary Hooper is set to stay at Sheffield Wednesday, with a deal for the former Celtic striker to stay at Hillsborough close, according to BBC Radio Sheffield.

Hooper, who joined the Owls on loan in October, has impressed Wednesday Head Coach Carlos Carvahal so far in his loan spell and had stated his intent to keep Hooper at the club. So far at the Owls, Hooper has scored 6 goals in 12 appearances, with two of them coming against Leeds United on Saturday. It is not clear at this stage whether the deal will be permanent or an extension of his loan deal, which expired after Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Leeds on Saturday, however, with the newly acquired spending power of owner Dejphon Chansiri, it is likely to be permanent.

Hooper joined Norwich in the Summer of 2013 for a fee of over £5m. Hooper scored 8 goals in his first year with the Canaries, before they were relegated to the Championship.

Whilst in the Championship, Hooper found game time hard to come by, with manager Neil Adams leaving Hooper out of the team for most of his spell as manager. At the end of the season, Hooper had scored 12 goals in over 30 appearances for the Canaries.
