Norwich closing in on Wolfsburg defender
The 27-year-old centre back Timm Klose is close to a transfer to Premier League club Norwich, according to SFR. The German-born Swiss international has only made eight appearances in the Bundesliga this season, and if the article is correct, he won’t play for Wolfsburg again, instead making the leap to the Premier League with the Canaries.
After failing in their attempts to pick up Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia, Norwich are undoubtedly in the market for a new central defender, and Klose, at six foot and four inches and with a fair bit of experience under his belt, he would definitely fit Alex Neil’s criteria. The player himself is reportedly anxious to play more regularly, and Carrow Road would offer the perfect opportunity for him to do just that and at a high level.
Swiss website SFR seem fairly confident that the deal will go through, but do say that the terms of a contract are yet unknown, and in a revealing press conference earlier today with the Norwich boss, nothing of it was mentioned.
However, it seems like a good fit for all involved parties and Norwich fans certainly wouldn’t scoff at the signature of a quality defender such as Klose, who has twelve international caps to his name. It would be the most the Canaries have ever spent on a defender, and they’d hope he can help their defensive worries and help improve on the poor clean sheet record shown so far this season.
