The printed version of L’Equipe is claiming that Norwich City are interested in RC Lens defender Jean-Philippe Gbamin. The 20-year-old is a regular for the Ligue 2 club and also a member of the French Under-21 side.

Gbamin started his professional career in 2012 with RC Lens and has gone on to make 62 appearances for the club, scoring on two occasions. The report claims that RC Lens would offload Gbamin for €5million as they need the finances, however, the player is not keen on a move away, which may scupper Norwich’s attempts to sign him.

Norwich City look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season, with a new centre-back being a priority for the club this January transfer window. Nicholas N’koulou and Lamine Kone are just a few defenders who have had reported interest from Norwich, and it is now evident that the club are clearly keen on a defender from France, with Gbamin now linked.
