According to the Mirror, Norwich are leading the chase for Liverpool forward Rickie Lambert. The 33-year-old is apparently trying to leave Anfield this summer and Alex Neil has already enquired about the availability of the striker.
Norwich are not the only ones apparently interested in the England international, with West Brom, Bournemouth and Aston Villa all rumoured to be interested. Lambert turned down a move to Aston Villa in January, with the 33-year-old choosing to stay and fight for his place in the Reds’ side.
However, with the signing of Danny Ings, Firmino and potentially Christian Benteke, Lambert moves further down the picking order at Anfield, which may suggest why he’s rumoured to relocte.
Lambert joined boyhood club Liverpool last summer for a fee of £3m, but failed to impress in what has to be considered a disappointing season at the Merseyside club. Liverpool are allegedly letting Lambert leave thanks to their acquisition of Burnley striker Danny Ings, with Lambert being allowed to leave for a similar fee to that of which he arrived for.
He’s currently on tour with the Reds in Asia, and has picked up a non serious injury. It is yet to be seen if Norwich will follow up their link with a bid.
